I have loads of lilly of the valley and adore the scent. Last spring I picked literally hundreds of blooms and submerged them in almond oil without satisfying results. Alas, I am sure you would be more successful!
Gosh Vicki! Reading your comment I'm transported right back to my early primary school days! As small children we were so fortunate to have a magical teacher whose name was Mrs. Gardener, (what an apt name now I come to think of it!) She was an opera singer, and used to wear the most exotic perfumes. As rewards, she would save her empty perfume bottles and give them out as prizes. It started off my collection of glass bottles, that most upsettingly, I mostly gave away as a teenager. It would probably have been worth a fortune now! I remember my favourite was Lily of the Valley. I haven't inhaled that fragrance in such a long time! I'm now on a mission to seek it out again! Isn't it amazing how the memory of scents can transport you back in time? I feel an experiment coming on! (Although I must make it clear to readers how extremely poisonous Lily of the Valley is, and that it is to be approached with extreme caution and of course certainly NEVER to be taken internally.) Thank you for sharing your experience, and have a beautiful day!

A very sweet story about your teacher!
